Welcome to Marks-A-Lot Kennels where results are produced, NOT excuses.  Dan Kielty and the Marks-A-Lot program are producing the top field trial, hunt test and superior hunting retrievers in the country today.  Our record speaks for itself.

We work closely with our clients to accomplish their goals for their retrievers.  Whether you are a serious hunter or just want to compete in field trials or hunt tests, Marks-A-Lot Kennels is the place for your retriever's training.  Our kennels are conveniently located in Caddo Mills, Texas, less than 1 hour east of Dallas or Plano. 4 Month Gun Dog Basics Package

At the completion of the program your hunting retriever will be obedient, steady to shot, and force fetched.  Dogs completing this course are capable of competing at the AKC Junior Hunter Level. This course builds a solid foundation on which to build advanced concepts if the owner desires.

Basic training is $550.00 per month everything included

Transition Training

Force to pile, the double T, Water T, 6 hand casting, lining drills, pattern blinds on land and water as well as multiple marking scenarios, doubles, triples and quads.  Following this program your retriever can run blind retrieves taking hand and whistle signals to retrieve birds they did not see fall. This is a tremendous advantage during any hunt and in competition. Your retriever is now performing at a Senior Hunter Level and later a Master Level.

Transition training is $550.00 per month everything included

Dan customizes each dog's program with the owner's goals in mind. Full time training is available for serious field trial, hunt tests and hunting dog owners. Private classes are available for the owner and dog that wants professional assistance on a per class basis. We train 7 days a week and our clients are always welcomed and encouraged to participate in training as much as possible. We extend our hours in the summer months on Tuesday and Thursday to allow clients the opportunity to work with their dogs until dark.

Rough Ridin' Calvinator MH

We train Retrievers-only retrievers, no guard dogs, no pointers, just retrievers.  We train hunting retrievers as well as those who run AKC, NAHRA and UKC hunting tests and field trials.  The best way to check out the kennel is to talk to our clients and view a training session.  Call to book a time to participate in a session and see us and the dogs work.

HEAD-START PUPPY PROGRAM

As early as 7 weeks of age we begin headstart. Introduction to birds, cover, gunfire, boats, blinds, water and basic obedience prepares your retriever to begin formal training at 5 to 6 months of age.

Health requirements:

Your dog should be current on all vaccinations including kennel cough for the protection of your dog as well as others already in training.  Please have veterinarian records for us at the time you leave your dog. If, while your dog is in training, it needs vaccinations, we can make arrangements to have them given.

Spring Testing Season

Now is the time to get ready for the spring testing season.  With hunting season coming to a close, it's time to get a start on spring.
The creep turned into a break, heeling is now 20 yards in front & the pest, well, hunting season does tend to loosen up a dog.

1)  Obedience sessions from the beginning
2)  Keep control-leash, collar, etc.
3)  15-minute sessions
4)  30-minute walk (at heel)
5)  Steady drills
6)  Cheating singles
7)  Come see me!

Good Luck,

Dan Kielty

Good luck and good training.
